I hate Bolder

It was his idea. Florida, poolside, the day after Ironman Florida...

Bolder "I think we should do Wildflower 07 and IMCDL 08."

We all like little lemmings agreed. WTHS (what the hockey sticks), that was the hardest race I have ever done. Not just the distance, the hills, I mean, mountains we climbed were ridiculous. I've never stopped my bike on a hill to take a brake, but I did twice on nasty grade.

How hard was it? Iron Jenny, who has competed in multiple Ironman and 1/2 Ironman events said that this was the hardest course she's ever done. One of the guys who placed ninth from the race athlete team said that compared to Canada and Coeurd'Laene, Wildflower was much harder.

I finished a 1/2 hour slower then I expected, but that's o.k. being this was my first 1/2 Ironman distance and the HARDEST 1/2 IRON IN THE WORLD. I definitly feel more confidence going towards Wisconsin! IMOO hills are more like speed bumps compared to this.

Much more to say and pics to show later, but everyone finished and we enjoyed a good post meal and adult refreshments las night. Were cheering on all our Olympic comrades this morning! Go Curly Su, Wil, Stronger and Rural Girl!

that's cool Tac. Good job, bro.

the weather was horrendous in Olathe...leading to some gnarly choppy water to swim in...which later led to a downpour on the bike. Rain so hard it left my skin red...felt like hail. Amazingly, I was loving it and having one of the best bike splits of my life!

28 miles in on the bike, the cops pulled us into a hay barn and cancelled the race. The bolts of lighting scared the race organizers.

I'm bummed...but what can I do.

"There's a tear in my beer..."

Way to go Brian, you did it and that's all that counts! I give you credit for taking on the challenge. I might have to argue with you, the half I did in Cancun last year was the hardest thing I've ever done, no hills but I almost melted in the blazing sun and humidity on the run down there...
Good Job!
Relax a bit, before picking up the intensity for IMW.

Repeat after me "Coeur d'Alene"

Don't follow poolside advice. Come to IMC '08 with the cool kids!

Congrats on a stellar race!!

Congrats Tac! You are going to kill the hills outside MadTown...

See what peer pressure does, it makes you complete one of the most difficult courses out there. Hey, if we can be judged by our peers, we might as well listen to them from time to time. Way to go and great shot of that "course love."

Nice. But, hey, isn't this all about building character? I'm guessing you found some really good things as you reached down deep to pull this out. Our prayers were with you. Again, nice... Henry

I.Hate.Bolder.Too.

This race goes back and forth between completely shaking my confidence to reassuring me that I can't be stopped, even when my weak little Greyhound brain is trying its best to sabotage me.

listening to the song from the chemical brothers you sent me as I read you posts. Good job bro. No shame in stopping on a hill.

Ya know, I have never done that but more power to yah!

Way to go. I had a great time. It was awesome to meet you. Good job on the course. Love your pics. Don't forget about Lake Chicago!

So great to meet you (even tho I thought you were the "other" Brian there, but only for a moment! I will chalk that up to pre-race nerves!)
Very cool photo of you and Trimama underwater! That's a keeper! Keep in touch too!

TB - didn't kill ya, so it made you stronger! You only walked the bike up the hill out of courtesy for the...hill. You were showing respect. Yea, that's it. Respect for Wildflower - all that's left is IMCdA08 - ipso-facto - you have to sign up now!

just for the record, i did say 'Wildflower '07'... but, as the video evidence will prove, 'CdA '08' was not my suggestion.

i do not see an Ironman in '08 in my future... and, certainly not in the US or Canada if i decide to do one late...

I'm sorry Bolder the recovery pain, caused temporary memory loss.

Great job, TB! Don't you just love when I say things like, "I told you so"???? Allow me to mention to the blog world that it was me who kept saying that you would be fine out there... and you were great! See? the day just goes by!! You were smiling like a new daddy when we crossed paths on the run, I might add.... ;-)

Although it was the "hardest", that I've done so far, it was also one of the most beautiful. Seeing that 360 degree view from the top of Nasty Grade was worth every pedal-stroke.

Listen to Bold denying involvement in the IMCdA suggestion - clearly he is an expert lip-sync-er, as all Canadians are, and is now trying to cast dispersions and doubt on his future IM excersions when he clearly was the one who planted said seed. I will be EXTREMELY dissapointed if the Boldster does not pony up to IMCdA08 with the rest of his cronies. Heck, it's like 8 miles, ok, 10 kilometers from his native homeland - why wouldn't he sign up? Eh?
